Emerald Island Villa Rentals on Disney's Doorstep

I read the letters about holidays in a newspaper last Wednesday and just had to add my moans for good measure. OK, in our case it was a holiday in Orlando, Florida, and we got back home a month ago. Florida was fine, no complaints there, but value for money it wasn’t. But I know now that it could have been which annoys me even more!

You see, we thought we were being smart when we booked into a hotel. My friend Mary booked the same area, for the same period, but they went for a Disney villa rental, and we thought that’s not a holiday, what with preparing your own meals and that. So we suggested they could have a break from time to time from their Disney villa rental and join us for meals and other activities at our hotel.

We duly arrived at our hotel and checked out the rooms, pool, restaurant, etc. After our flight we decided to have an early night. Mary phoned the next day to describe her Disney villa rental, about which she was, shall we say, gushing? I was not in the best of moods because none of us could say we slept, what with the racket coming from adjacent rooms and the floor above. Our complaints to the hotel management were countered with comments about mutual tolerance, and the like. Mary phoned again, asking if we would like to join them at the pool at their Disney villa rental. I must confess I did respond with some smugness, imagining their Disney villa rental would have a postage stamp of a pool, whereas the hotel’s was what you would expect at a hotel.

I said maybe we would drop by later and check out their villa . Later that day my Husband had a disagreement at our hotel pool - something about drenching a few German sunbathers when he jumped in. Anyway, we couldn't keep putting it off, so we looked up the location of the Emerald Island Resort and were surprised to find it was only a few minutes away from our hotel and indeed right on the doorstep of Walt Disney World.

Imagine our surprise when we arrived at the Emerald Island Resort to find that it is surrounded by 300 acres of genuine wildlife conservation area, which includes a large shady woodland area of natural woodland in the centre of the community. I would not have believed you would find such a haven from the hustle and bustle of Kissimmee only 3 miles from the entrance to Walt Disney World.

When we arrived at the impressive dolphin fountain feature we knew that we had arrived at the Emerald Island Villa Resort Rental entrance. On arrival at the gatehouse a security guard took our names, car registration number and then asked us to wait whilst he checked that we were actually invited guests. Whilst I was quite indignant at this inconvenience I was quietly impressed at the 24 hour security this afforded everyone staying on this Disney villa rental resort.

We drove through the entrance passing the huge community swimming pool, clubhouse and Tiki Bar. Then I saw the villa rental home in front of me and I could not contain my feelings of envy. It truly did look like the most luxurious villa rental pool home I have ever seen. Mary was waiting for us when we arrived and thoroughly enjoyed showing us around the villa rental, room by room. I must say it looked fantastic, the furnishings all gave a real feeling of luxury. By the time we got out to the private villa pool at the rear of the villa I was almost choking with pure envy.

Once I had recovered from my feelings of jealousy we all had a thoroughly lovely afternoon watching the children playing in the pool whilst we enjoyed a relaxed lunch. In the evening we enjoyed a drink at the Tiki bar before heading back to our hotel as we still had to sort out our theme park tickets for the following day. Mary of course already had her Disney tickets, Universal Tickets, Sea World Tickets which she had purchased from Kissimmee Guest Services and had the Disney tickets delivered direct to her Disney villa rental.

When I consider that Mary paid at least 50% less than I did, I know who got the better deal. I will not make the same mistake again....I definitely plan to rent an Emerald Island villa pool home for our next trip to Kissimmee, Orlando, Florida. In fact Mary and I have talked about maybe renting one large villa rental for both families to share or doing a multiple villa booking and renting two villas next door to each other on the Disney Villa Resort in Kissimmee Orlando Florida.
